Two University of Colorado graduates, Taro Smith and Brandon Dwight, founded Boulder Cycle Sport in January 2005 in order to provide a community-based bike shop for all levels of cyclists. 

Since the mid-Nineties, Taro and Brandon have been avid cyclists and competitive racers. Taro holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in the areas of Stress and Exercise Physiology and a Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology. His professional background includes the development of exercise models of rehabilitation as well as product development and marketing work for various medical and fitness companies. He also conducts research in the fields of exercise physiology and immunology. Brandon graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 1995 and was a nationally ranked professional mountain bike racer from 1999 to 2002. Today he ranks as one of the top cyclocross racers in the country and is the 2007 U.S. Cyclocross National Champion for the Master's 35-39 category. With a combined 30 years of pedaling in Boulder, Brandon and Taro have deep roots and a vast knowledge of Boulder’s cycling community.

FasCat Coaching is a cycling coaching company dedicated to helping cyclists improve their performance.  FasCat is especially effective training athletes with powermeters.  Founded in 2002, FasCat is based on ten successful years of racing and training, sport science and a high level of interaction between the coach and the athlete.

Frank Overton founded FasCat Coaching in 2002 and has been a full time coach since 2004.  Back in the day, heraced competitively first as a mountain biker and then as a category 1 roadie for 10 years. After the 2005 season, he "retired" to dedicate more of his energy to being a coach and a family man.  This allowed him to take on projects like working for the Priority Health Professional Cycling Team in 2006 and then the US National Team in Europe for 2007.

Frank started training with power in 2001 and couldn't have become the athlete or the coach, he is today without such a training tool.  Power Based Training allows us to utilize my sport science background to maximize athletic performance in ways that just aren't possible without it.  

Training with power is a large portion FasCat's Coaching philosophy but not the end all.   We teach athlete's how to race and perform.  I still rely heavily on getting to know the athlete, and draw from my experience as a racer & a coach to help.  I use a hands on approach to motivate athletes by showing them what they are capable of.

Retull is the brainchild of three bike industry aficionados. The  Retul motion capture bike fit system was under development for  approximately 2 years, as a side project of engineering jedi, Cliff  Simms. Simms sought out former industry colleague, Franko Vatterott, who began developing the branding strategy and eventually connected with  Todd Carver, 3-D motion capture bike fit expert formerly with Boulder  Center for Sports Medicine. The three launched Retul in November 2007,  and the technology has quickly set the new standard in dynamic data  capture for bike fitting. Now the system is being used across the United States, Canada, Europe, Middle East, New Zealand and even the  Caribbean.

In addition to powering bike fitters around the globe with the Retul  technology, we also have operate fit studios in Denver and Boulder, CO.  Retul Studios offers 3-D Cycling Gait Analysis using state-of-the-art  motion capture technology originally designed for the surgical  navigation industry. The same accuracy standards used by medical  professionals who are performing brain and other noninvasive surgical  procedures are now available for precision bicycle fitting. What does  this mean to you? Well.... a well versed bike fitter now has the ability to capture an enormous amount of dynamic data from your pedaling stroke and track all the moving parts of your body simultaneously while riding the bicycle AND can do this under different workloads. A cyclist's  pedaling mechanics can change significantly when applying variable  efforts to the pedals and the Retul system will pick up these  differences and allow the fitter to set your position accordingly.
